New Year's Letter 2012

2012- After 4 months here, we were still not ready to leave  in April having made new friends, activities and experiences. In addition to creating this new life, we have also been adopted by a local resident who lives in our garden. Minette is a delightful cat who has added joy to our life here. She has welcomed visitors and their comments have been very positive. She is very clear that the garden is her territory and leaves the house to us!

There a few changes this year in the village-some familiar faces no longer around to greet us but new voices are heard in our “quartier” as young families move in. Our return this November means picking up where we left off in April. However, we have met more people and establishing our own traditions in the village. Small steps as we become part of life here.

One major project is underway-Monique who many of you know, and I have begun writing a book to address the frequent question-“What is the best time to visit the Languedoc?”. Each month Monique and I will offer information, personal experiences and food ideas to help readers make their decisions. Even if it is never published, our research is proving to be a great way to check out more hidden treasures in the region. We’ll keep you posted.

Food continues to dominate life in the Languedoc and we continue to search out the best the region has-wine, restaurants, truffles, markets-the list goes on. But perhaps, you would like to come and do your own searching?
